Role Summary
The Cancer Centre Chemotherapy Day Unit offers outpatient chemotherapy and supportive care for oncology patients. Our centre is committed to delivering patient-centered care, reflecting the core values and healthcare philosophy of the Sisters of Charity.
- Deliver exceptional direct patient care; ensure safe administration of cytotoxic medications and demonstrate advanced cannulation techniques.
- Offer guidance to patients and their families regarding symptom management throughout the treatment journey.
- Recognize the psycho-social needs of patients and their families, initiating necessary referrals.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals within the hospital and community to maintain clinical knowledge and expertise across the care continuum.
- Pursue ongoing professional development in Oncology, Hematology, and related medical conditions.
Qualifications and Skills
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in acute Oncology or Hematology nursing.
- Proficiency in the safe administration of cytotoxic therapies.
- Advanced cannulation skills.
- Demonstrated clinical nursing skills and knowledge adhering to best practices.
- Proven ability to provide safe care in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Current National criminal history check, or willingness to obtain; Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain.
