Job Title: Catch and Effort Specialist

The Victorian Fisheries Authority is a statutory authority responsible for ensuring the effective management of Victoria's fisheries resources in a coordinated and strategic way to guarantee their ongoing sustainability.

This position involves capturing and recording confidential data from commercial fishing and aquaculture industries accurately and in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively as part of a team, enjoy flexible working arrangements, and undertake various tasks across the division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of confidential data from commercial fishery licence holders and aquaculture licence holders
  • Maintain catch and effort databases and produce reports and statistical data as required
  • Provide authoritative advice on catch and effort matters to commercial fishery licence holders and field staff
  • Assist in the development of departmental databases and reporting systems

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to operate computerized records systems
  • Highly developed data entry skills with an emphasis on accuracy
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
