Job Summary

An Admixture Technician II is needed to prepare medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under supervision of a physician. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the technical aspects of medication preparation, including accurate and timely mixing of drugs.

Responsibilities
  • Under direct supervision, perform the technical aspects of medication preparation, including preparing medication orders and checking all orders for completeness of information.
  • Verify patient information and proper physician authorization before proceeding with medication preparation.
  • Maintain accurate records of medication preparation and inventory control, adhering to department guidelines and OSHA standards.
  • Calculate correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents, and assist in counting controlled drugs weekly.
  • Provide support with inventory control of medications, preparing labels, filing, and preparing billing, as well as basic data entry into department automation.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; entry level to three years experience in a pharmacy.
  • Minimum three to five years experience in a pharmacy with IV skills; IV certification preferred; Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board requirement recommended.
  • Minimum five to seven years experience in a pharmacy with IV skills; Oncology background preferred or extensive IV preparation experience; completion of an ASHP accredited program or community college based program recommended.

Work Environment

This role requires working in a fast-paced environment with potential exposure to toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and chemotherapeutic agents.

Able to sit/stand for extended periods, occasionally lift/carry items weighing up to 40 lbs, and maintain corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
