Job Overview:

The Urban Forestry Specialist will be responsible for managing the council's urban forestry assets, including tree maintenance, pruning and removal. This role involves leading a team to ensure effective and efficient use of arboriculture practices in line with best practices, council service levels and Australian Standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating plant and equipment to complete tree-related works
  • Leading and guiding a team to ensure effective and efficient use of arboriculture practices
  • Leading a safety culture in the field and ensuring all relevant safety processes are adhered to

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Trade and/or post-trade qualification in Arboriculture or associated discipline is essential & Certificate II in ESI - Powerline Vegetation Control
  • Demonstrated high level of arboriculture skills including elevated Work Platform, climbing and extensive rigging
  • Demonstrated experience in the positive leadership of staff and scheduling arboriculture works
  • Advanced tree climbing skills, including aerial rescue and tree rigging
  • Comprehensive knowledge of plant nomenclature, plant cultural requirements, and advanced chainsaw operation
