Serco, in partnership with Bupa, provides integrated healthcare services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel across Australia. Our team delivers high-quality, evidence-based mental health services to patients, working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary healthcare team.
About the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team at Lavarack Health Centre in Townsville. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide comprehensive mental health services to patients, including intake assessments, risk assessments, crisis intervention, case formulation, and medication management. You will also work collaboratively with our Senior Mental Health team to support crisis presentations, risk assessment, and risk management planning.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality, evidence-based mental health services to patients
- Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary healthcare team to deliver comprehensive care
- Conduct intake assessments, risk assessments, crisis intervention, case formulation, and medication management
- Support crisis presentations, risk assessment, and risk management planning with our Senior Mental Health team
- Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of patients
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse who is passionate about delivering high-quality mental health services. You will have a strong commitment to patient-centered care and a willingness to work collaboratively with our team to deliver exceptional outcomes. You will also have a strong understanding of relevant State/Territory policies and procedures, as well as national standards governing mental health practice.
Requirements- Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Credentialed with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN); OR minimum qualification of Graduate Diploma Mental Health Nursing; OR undergraduate trained Mental Health Nurse (UK); OR trained and registered as a Psychiatric Nurse / Mental Health Nurse
- Minimum of 2 years full-time (or part-time equivalent) Post Graduate experience in mental health in a primary health or specialist mental health setting
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification
- Knowledge of relevant State/Territory policies and procedures and national standards governing mental health practice (desirable)
- Knowledge of the ADF Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2018-2023 (desirable)
- Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA with a minimum of 10 hours directly related to mental health
Lavarack Health Centre is located in Townsville at Lavarack Barracks, the largest Army base in Australia. This facility provides primary medical, dental, physiotherapy, mental health, and pharmaceutical care to Defence members, and consists of a 24/7 inpatient ward. The standard operating hours of the centre are 0730-1600 Monday-Friday.
