FMCG Purchasing Agent

We are excited to present an opportunity within our Merchandise team for a Buyer with substantial experience in Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG). This position is pivotal in managing one of the largest categories within our consumables division.
This is a hybrid role, with office attendance required from Monday to Wednesday.
The Buyer will be responsible for ensuring a profitable category while cultivating and managing key supplier partnerships and executing a customer-focused category strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement strategies to provide exceptional quality, value, and customer experience. Streamline processes to ensure simplicity and efficiency. Support our Low-Cost model. Drive profitable sales growth by attracting customers with market-leading offerings. Establish a customer-centric category vision through strategic initiatives that align with Product and Price directives. Lead category transformation initiatives. Monitor sales performance in accordance with budget forecasts and previous year metrics. Eliminate redundancy and range fringe to simplify the customer proposition. Meet key performance indicators for sales and profit as per budget. Introduce innovative concepts to enhance the category. Negotiate with suppliers and lead procurement discussions. Ensure compliance with Australian quality standards for all products. Achieve optimal markdowns, stock turnover, and maintain fast-moving inventory.Qualifications and Skills:
Demonstrated experience in retail buying, particularly within the FMCG sector. Strong negotiation capabilities and the ability to foster effective supplier relationships. Analytical skills to interpret sales data and market trends. Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels. Highly organized and detail-oriented, adept at managing multiple projects concurrently. Results-oriented and proactive, with a commitment to delivering value to customers. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software tools.Benefits:
