Job Title: Executive Officer

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an experienced professional to support the effective operation of either the South or Eastern Metropolitan Regional Aboriginal Advisory Committee (RAJAC) in Victoria. As an Executive Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the active participation and engagement of the Aboriginal community in the Aboriginal Justice Agreement (AJA).

  1. Support the RAJAC's strategic objectives by providing high-level advice and guidance to members of the Executive Management Team at the regional level.
  2. Develop and maintain supportive linkages between justice agencies and community organisations to promote the AJA initiatives within the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide secretariat services to the RAJAC, including preparation of meeting papers, agenda, venue, catering, and minute taking.
  • Maintain regular contact with the Chairperson of the South or Eastern Metropolitan RAJAC to uphold the partnership and implementation of AJA4.
  • Attend, participate, and support the RAJAC Chairperson's participation in AJA-related activities, including the Aboriginal Justice Forum, Koori Caucus, and Koori Reference Groups.

Requirements:

  1. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Koori community, both society and culture, and the issues impacting on it.
  2. Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with the Koori community.
