Lead Financial Accountant Role Overview

The Lead Financial Accountant is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger management and fixed asset register. This role operates with a high degree of autonomy and provides support to senior finance leadership.

The ideal candidate will have relevant tertiary qualifications in finance and accounting, as well as experience in leading financial accounting teams and managing month-end processes.

About this Role
  • Manage the preparation of annual statutory accounts and other external reports.
  • Oversee the completion of timely and accurate internal and external reporting.
  • Lead the financial accounting team, ensuring deliverables are met and that the team operates efficiently.

This position is based at our Administration Office, located at the Thomas Embling Hospital, Fairfield.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage month-end process against agreed timetable and deadlines.
  2. Conduct month-end review and analysis of results, including completion of variance analysis and commentary for management reports.
  3. Manage and monitor the monthly cash flow.
  4. Review Monthly Reconciliations of Balance Sheet Accounts.
  5. Manage the delivery of DH Reports, including monthly results, forecast and budget within required timelines.
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance and accounting.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience as a manager with the capacity to work autonomously and as a member of a team to deliver outcomes and solve problems.
  • Ability to effectively lead a team to meet deliverables and strive for continual process improvement.
