About the Role

Melba Support Services is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to fill the position of 2IC DDSO2A in Sale. As a key member of our team in Gippsland, you will work closely with the House Supervisor to deliver high-quality services to the people we support and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the House Supervisor in the day-to-day operations of the Supported Independent Living service, providing regular reports to the Operations Manager.
  • Manage team performance, including rosters, performance management, records management, quality, and compliance.
  • Lead and plan support for people with disabilities within their home and community, based on individual support plans.
  • Support initiatives that promote individual choice, control, and independence within the shared home environment.
  • Advocate for inclusion, participation, and respect for rights within the broader community.
  • Communicate with people we support and their families to meet daily needs and plan for future requirements.
  • Administer medication treatments, therapies, or seek assistance according to protocols.

About the Team

This is a Supported Independent Living house for 5 adults with high support needs. The home operates on a sleepover model with a ratio of three staff and a rotating fortnightly roster.

Requirements

  • Must hold or be working towards an Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience and knowledge in the field of disability, with the ability to apply policies and processes.
  • Specialised and contemporary understanding of disability, with the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to client support.
  • Understanding and familiarity with NDIS funding and planning processes.
  • Understanding of person-centred active support, positive behaviour support, and its implementation within a diverse team.
  • Passionate about supporting people with mental health and intellectual disability.
  • Knowledge of and skill with coaching, supervision, and planning practices.
  • Competencies using Microsoft Office software programs.
  • NDIS worker screening Check.
  • Working With Children Check.
  • Current unrestricted Australian Driver's License.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate - 3 doses.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
