Penske is a leading distributor of premium power systems solutions from MTU, Detroit and Allison and the distributor of Western Star, Dennis Eagle and MAN trucks and buses.

We are currently recruiting a Health, Safety and Environment Manager to join our Australia and New Zealand team based in Wacol with regular travel to our locations across SEQ.

This role reports to the Group HSE Manager and will be a valued member of a dynamic, inclusive and supportive team. As a Health, Safety and Environment Manager, you will serve as a consultant to the business on health, safety and environment related issues and through collaborative partnerships across the organisation, deliver value-added services to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive HSE leadership with managers and employees to ensure everyone understands, believes and connects with HSE matters on a personal level.
  • Build relationships with managers and employees in order to engage people in HSE practices and a safety culture for Penske's Australia and New Zealand business operations.
  • Develop and implement a Management System that matches Penske's, legislative and ISO requirements in Workplace Health & Safety (WHS), Environment.
  • Provide an effective Risk Management approach to ensure best practice WHS and Environmental management for Penske's business operations.
  • Embed HSE policies and procedures in Penske's business operations.
  • Assist in Wellbeing strategies across the Penske business operations.

About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in OH&S – Minimum Diploma OH&S.
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment (desired, not essential).
  • Qualified Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator.
  • Certified IMS Auditor (preferred).
  • Incident Lead Investigator trained (ICAM preferred).
  • Minimum 7 years working experience with WHS and Environmental systems.
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining best practice WHS and Environmental programs.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of federal and state legislation related to WHS and Environment.
  • Experience in Rehabilitation and Return to Work programs.
  • Proven experience managing Workers Compensation/ACC, including claims, policies and procedures.
  • Able to train and coach managers and employees on Safety and Environment programs including Workers Compensation/rehabilitation.
  • Established competence in auditing (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Experience in managing external stakeholders, contractors and apprentices.
  • Knowledge and experience in Wellbeing and successful implementation of such programs.

Salary: Estimated $120,000 - $180,000 per annum depending on location and experience.
