Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced HDR student to join our academic team as a Teaching Fellow in Music Studies. The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching efforts of the University in Music Studies, particularly at the undergraduate level, and develop their skills as a teacher in higher education settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster an outstanding student experience and encourage active participation and engagement in learning and teaching at the undergraduate level.
  • Support high quality learning and teaching outcomes for students through technology-enhanced learning, problem-oriented, authentic learning, and assessment practices.
  • Support a student-centred service culture and establish positive, respectful, and supportive relationships between staff and students.
  • Where appropriate, promote and enhance student learning experiences through opportunities to strengthen Griffith's research/teaching nexus.
  • Continuously improve teaching practice through professional development and critical reflection informed by a range of evaluation approaches.
  • Where appropriate, support personal professional development by acting as a course convenor at the undergraduate level, with support and direction from more senior staff.

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in a Griffith HDR program post-confirmation.
  • At least two trimesters of prior teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach into the Music Studies area and engage with undergraduate students effectively.
  • Proven ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and accessible manner, both verbally and in writing, to a diverse audience of students.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to balance teaching duties with research and other academic commitments.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student learning and providing academic guidance and mentorship to students.
  • Proficiency in using learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) and other educational technologies to support student learning.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development in teaching practices and engagement in teaching-related training.
