We constantly ask ourselves: What is our impact on the world?

Each role within our organization plays a crucial part in changing the world for the better. Our team members help make great things possible not only in their communities but around the globe.

The Role of Principal Engineer - Hydrology and Hydraulics

In this key position, we rely on you to provide input into civil engineering projects undertaken by HDR. Your expertise will be invaluable as you work within multidisciplinary teams to find the best solutions for each project.

  • As a member of our team, you are expected to commit fully to HDR's Values and adhere to current policies and procedures, including quality, environment, risk, and safety within our business management system.

This role requires strong technical skills and leadership abilities. As a Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for mentoring and providing technical direction to other relevant professionals. You will also need to validate and verify hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.

Your extensive experience in flood modeling and delivering flood studies is essential. You must have a sound knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, standards, and processes. Proficiency in industry-standard hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software packages (TUFLOW is essential; WBNM, XP-RAFTS, URBS, MIKE FLOOD, HEC-RAS desirable) is required.

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and well-organized individual with the ability to lead and organize the work of team members. A willingness to be accountable and responsible is also necessary.

  • You should have at least 12 years' relevant experience.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., Bachelor or Masters of Engineering in civil/environmental/other relevant discipline) is required.
  • Accreditation as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland and/or Chartered Engineer (or reciprocal accreditation) is also needed.
Estimated Salary Range

$120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience.
