About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Field Engineer to join our team at Bechtel. As a key member of our construction management team, you will be responsible for providing field engineering leadership and oversight for work planning, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of field engineers and ensure that field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.
  • Coordinate all activities related to the area of responsibility and interface with all other operating sections of the job-site.
  • Develop and recommend the construction engineering staffing plan for approval by the Site Manager and prepare employee requisitions.
  • Direct construction engineering activities of the assigned construction engineering staff, ensuring compliance with procedures.
  • Direct the design of temporary construction facilities as required.
  • Direct preparation of requisitions for field procured materials, material substitution, services, and equipment.
  • Possess responsibility for quantity take-off, control, reporting, and forecasting.
  • Ensure zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
  • Review and approve inspection test plans.
  • Coordinate reviews of subcontractor submittals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.
  • Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes, including Standard Work Process Procedures, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), including TEAMWorks, Infoworks or Aconex, BPS or DSCS, PTR or Unifier, Agile, Navisworks, and other automation tools used on Bechtel projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to resolve design issues with subordinates, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client.
  • Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000.
  • Construction field experience. Work experience should emphasize the civil / site design of heavy industrial-type facilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of field engineering processes, construction, safety, health, and environmental related disciplines and worked in a similar capacity on previous projects.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
