About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Compartment and Completions Manager to join our team at BAE Systems Australia.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of compartment handover, inspections, defect rectification, and task completion on the Hobart Class Destroyer (DDG) project.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the handover of compartments to the customer, ensuring that all quality and safety requirements are met.
  • Coordinate inspections and defect rectification activities, working closely with production, quality, and customer representatives.
  • Develop and implement processes and plans to ensure successful handover of ship compartments during MATCON transfer.
  • Act as the operations lead for ensuring all production OQE and quality requirements are achieved.
  • Manage a team of coordinators/inspectors, providing guidance and support as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a suitable engineering discipline or proven equivalent trade discipline or relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated naval shipbuilding operations management experience, preferably in a heavy engineering and/or defence environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of shipbuilding processes, marine terminology, and trade specifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in inspection and sell-off processes on complex programs.
