About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Compartment and Completion Manager to join our team at BAE Systems Australia. As a key member of our Shipbuilding Operations team, you will be responsible for the management of compartment handover, inspections, defect rectification, and task completion on the Hobart Class Destroyer (DDG) project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement processes and plans to ensure successful handover of ship compartments during MATCON transfer
  • Act as the Operations lead for ensuring all Production OQE and Quality requirements are achieved
  • Manage a team of coordinators/inspectors and work closely with Production, Quality, and Customer representatives
  • Coordinate inspection activities safely and in time to support the delivery of the Production schedule
  • Manage tank/void open/closure process, inspections, and release for installation of false ceilings/bulkheads/floors
  • Track and manage rectification of trade defects and non-conformances
  • Handover of compartments to Customer/Ship Staff
  • Develop Open Reports/Interim Reports/Closing Reports
  • Develop KPI's and report on Compartment status and Task Completion
  • Manage closeout of Tasks via the TPCC completions certificate process
About You
  • Bachelor's degree in suitable Engineering or proven equivalent Trade discipline or relevant experience
  • Demonstrated Naval Shipbuilding Operations Management experience desired
  • Demonstrated experience in a heavy engineering and/or defence environment, including environmental considerations
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership of multi-functional teams in a complex operating environment
  • The ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of the business
  • Knowledge of Shipbuilding processes, marine terminology, and trade specifications
  • Demonstrated experience in Inspection and Sell-off processes on complex programs
  • Possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate defence security clearance and eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
