Job Title: Senior Policy Officer - Aviation Accessibility

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Policy Officer to join our team in the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the implementation of the Government's aviation reform agenda, as outlined in the Aviation White Paper: Towards 2050.

About the Role

The Senior Policy Officer will work closely with the International Aviation, Technology and Services (IATS) Division to develop and implement policy initiatives that promote accessibility and inclusion in the aviation sector. This will involve close consultation with external stakeholders, including the aviation industry, people with disability and their representatives, and government agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement policy initiatives that promote accessibility and inclusion in the aviation sector
  • Close consultation with external stakeholders, including the aviation industry, people with disability and their representatives, and government agencies
  • Analyse the costs and benefits of potential policy and implementation options, including through regulatory impact analyses
  • Draft advice to inform government decision making, such as Cabinet submissions, ministerial briefs and new policy proposals
  • Work with relevant agencies to inform the drafting of supporting legislation, regulation and standards
  • Project management to ensure delivery of initiatives within government-agreed timeframes
