Lead the Financial Accounting Function

Wingecarribee Shire Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Accounting Team Lead to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for leading the financial accounting function, ensuring compliance with taxation laws and regulations, and providing expert advice on accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the financial accounting team to deliver financial business process improvements
  • Take responsibility for taxation compliance, with a focus on Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) and Goods and Services Tax (GST)
  • Account for assets in accordance with relevant accounting standards
  • Provide expert advice on accounting standards and taxation laws
  • Manage the financial system and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Business (Accounting Major)
  • Demonstrated work experience in a finance/accounts working environment
  • Strong spreadsheet and database skills within the Microsoft Office Environment
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to prioritise and complete tasks efficiently and to deadlines
