Job Title

Role Overview:

  • As a social media communications officer, you will play a key role in developing and implementing the organisation's social media engagement strategy to achieve effective online engagement with communities.
  • Developing engaging social media content for varying online audiences is an essential part of this role.
  • You will proactively engage in online discussion across various social media platforms to promote crime prevention initiatives, maintain community confidence, and provide information on public safety matters.
  • Collaborating with digital intelligence, media, and public affairs teams is also a critical aspect of this role to execute operational and organisational objectives.
  • Supporting the moderation of high-priority social media content published across QPS platforms is another important responsibility.
  • Educating and providing social media training to internal staff to ensure consistency of tone and approach to social media engagement is also required.
  • Representing the Media and Public Affairs Group and the QPS at meetings with clients and stakeholders is a key responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Formal qualifications and/or experience in communications, media, and/or marketing will be favourably considered.
  2. Scheduled duties may occur outside of business hours.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment is crucial.
  • A strong understanding of social media platforms and their application in a professional setting is necessary.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills are required to produce high-quality content that engages and informs target audiences.
  • A strong understanding of the Queensland Government's social media engagement strategy is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary to identify trends and opportunities for improvement in social media engagement.
