Environmental Sustainability Coordinator

The City of Melville is seeking a Sustainability Program Officer to join its team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the organisation's ambitious sustainability agenda and be part of a dynamic and diverse workplace.
In this position, you will play a key coordinating role across the organisation for the environmental management system and ensure that required standards and compliance are met. You will also provide a role in sustainability and climate action projects across the organisation, including directly managing projects based in the service area.
As our Sustainability Program Officer, your responsibilities will include ensuring the effective and efficient performance of the Environmental Management System, including energy and water audits and Waterwise Action Plan reporting. You will also assist the Climate Action Officer in the development and monitoring of the City's Carbon Accounting and Climate Action Plan across the organisation and community.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, promoting and maintaining corporate oriented sustainability initiatives and programs with strong project management, problem solving and organisational skills. You will also require experience in engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organisation and the community to improve performance across strategic outcomes.
Additionally, you will need to have comprehensive knowledge of or experience in ISO 14001: Environmental Management Systems requirements and integrated management systems. A sound expertise and experience in sustainability reporting particularly as it relates to bottom line indicators and international sustainability reporting standards, such as Green Star, Climate Active, GRI, ISCA etc. is also essential.
