Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality and Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Quality Assurance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance across our General Merchandise and Goods Not for Retail Sale (GNFR) products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Compliance and Quality Assurance
  • Work with key stakeholders, including sourcing managers and the Procurement Team, to ensure General Merchandise products and GNFR are safe, of acceptable quality, and comply with all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure our suppliers meet our ED Group Quality Assurance, Sustainability, and Responsible Sourcing standards for own brand products.
  • Ensure our General Merchandise products, packaging, and labeling conform to Australian standards across the ED Group as a final approver in our business process.
  • Maintain up-to-date agreed specifications and artwork with all suppliers through our Quality Assurance systems.
  • Support our retail buying teams in the evaluation and testing of new own brand product lines and supplier submissions, ensuring adherence to our new product development and quality assurance processes.
  • Educate stakeholders and provide expert guidance on testing and product performance requirements for non-trade, seasonal, and exclusive items to ensure best quality and safety for customers and teams.
  • Investigate customer feedback and complaints with suppliers, with corrective actions to improve quality.
  • Liaise with suppliers and technical service providers to ensure that all appropriate due diligence requirements are met, including manufacturing site audits, product testing, responsible sourcing compliance, etc.
  • Report to the Group Quality, Food Safety, and Regulatory Affairs Manager any gaps in product quality, safety, or compliance, and identify appropriate plans for corrective and preventive action and improvement.
  • Onboard new suppliers so they are aware of ED Group's minimum supply requirements.
  • Communicate identified compliance, quality, and product safety risks to senior leaders.
  • Monitor complaint trends daily, and proactively coordinate the close-out of complaints on a day-to-day basis.
  • Coordinate supplier investigations of product complaints through follow-up with stores and customer hubs on product complaints.
  • Escalate issues with the commercial and quality assurance teams as needed.
  • Maintain a project tracker for each GM and GNFR sourcing project.
  • Provide monthly reporting on Quality, Safety, and Compliance KPIs.
  • Provide backup for managing product withdrawals and product rework within our store network.

Requirements

  • 3+ years' experience in management of product compliance (General Merchandise and/or GNFR would be beneficial).
  • Qualifications in Materials Science or similar is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of glass, plastics, and/or packaging will be well regarded.
  • Strong communication ability, both written and verbal.
  • Very comfortable engaging with internal and external stakeholders; experience engaging with external technical service providers is advantageous.
  • Google Workspace proficiency, exposure to PWRM system would be beneficial.
  • Initiative, efficiency, and attention to detail.
