Job Title: Senior Operational Technology Lead

The Australian government agency responsible for meteorology is seeking a highly experienced and motivated leader to manage the observing systems and operations program.

This key leadership position provides specialist advice, direction, and guidance on the infrastructure architecture and equipment. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in engineering planning and delivery, advanced stakeholder management capabilities, and a high level of management skill.

The role involves managing a diverse team of specialists responsible for developing and designing technological solutions. This includes level three support for various technologies such as radars, rainfall stations, drifting buoys, dedicated observations, and satellites.

The successful applicant will be responsible for establishing capability, strategy, and methods for providing required observations for Bureau services. They will work closely with related teams in Infrastructure Development and the National Operations of the Observing Systems and Operations Program, along with other business areas of the organisation.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of technology infrastructure and be able to distil significant issues from complex material to develop workable solutions to problems. They will also be an active participant in industry and stakeholder engagement to continuously improve observations infrastructure.
