Science Laboratory Technician Job Description","

The role of a Science Laboratory Technician is to provide support to teaching staff in delivering high-quality education to students. This involves working closely with the Head of Science and other science staff to ensure the efficient and safe delivery of the Science curriculum throughout the year.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining facilities, preparing materials and equipment for classwork, and assisting with timetabled classes. They will also be expected to monitor workspaces and environments to identify any potential maintenance issues that could impact student and staff wellbeing.

Responsibilities include liaising with science teaching staff on their needs for practical work, maintaining an efficient system for the use and allocation of materials and equipment, and advising on technical components of the curriculum.

The Science Laboratory Technician will also be responsible for demonstrating laboratory techniques to science teaching staff and students, assisting with the use of computers and learning technologies within the department, and preparing solutions, stains, and necessary materials for use in the laboratory.

","

Maintenance duties include maintaining a safe chemical storage/handling/disposal system, assisting with the security of the science laboratory and equipment, and maintaining an inventory of equipment.

","

Other responsibilities include acquiring relevant catalogues and price lists, labelling using the current GHS labelling system, and ordering chemicals and equipment.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team. They will also have a strong commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students and staff.
