Job Title: Senior Claims Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Claims Specialist to join our team at Suncorp Group. As a Senior Claims Specialist, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of complex and high-value claims, providing strategic oversight and technical expertise to drive excellent customer outcomes and timely resolution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and strategically oversee a portfolio of complex and high-value liability claims at a senior claims officer level, exhibiting high technical expertise consistent with industry best practice.
  • Provide strategies and solutions, collaborating with internal legal teams, and briefing panel firms and Counsel where required, in the management of legal issues or other claims complexities arising from cluster claims, class actions, or otherwise high-value or contentious claims in the Specialty portfolio.
  • Provide specialist technical advice in relation to strategy or settlement authorisation and indemnity decisions.
  • Manage and influence stakeholders across your relevant functional area to promote alignment of claims strategies and develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders both internal and external.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in law, business, or insurance (mandatory).
  • 5-10 years' experience managing a portfolio of complex professional indemnity and liability claims in a senior claims role (will consider experience gained in an insurance law firm) (mandatory).
  • 5 years' experience mentoring and advising and developing less experienced team members lifting overall team technical capability (mandatory).
  • Current Practising Certificate (or eligibility) (desirable).
  • Admission as a Solicitor in any Australian Court (desirable).
