Bushfire Mitigation Specialist

The role of a Bushfire Mitigation Specialist is to oversee the implementation and management of bushfire mitigation activities.

This involves planning and implementing new and updated bushfire asset protection zones, ensuring they meet the required standards. Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning works and obtaining necessary approvals
  • Overseeing the development of bushfire asset protection zones in the field
  • Reporting on progress and outcomes

The position requires regular hours with access to flexible working arrangements. However, regular rostered after-hours, weekend, and public holiday work will be required, particularly during declared bushfire seasons.

The ideal candidate will have experience or skills to achieve competencies in an AIIMS role. They must also possess:

  • Recognised tertiary qualifications in land management or science
  • A current registration under relevant legislation
  • The ability to undertake and maintain a Moderate level national fire fighting task based assessment (fire fitness)
  • A valid manual driver's licence

While not essential, desirable qualities include experience and qualifications in an AIIMS role, as well as knowledge of environmental assessment and approval processes.
