Job Description
  • Design, develop, and optimize gear manufacturing processes, including machining, hobbing, grinding, and heat treat.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to ensure quality and performance standards.
  • Select appropriate tools, materials, and machines for gear production.
  • Design fixtures and special tooling to support manufacturing.
  • Implement and support continuous improvement and Lean initiatives.
  • Collaborate with design, quality, and production teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for gear-related and product issues.
  • Stay current with industry trends, gear standards (e.g., AGMA, ISO), and emerging technologies.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in high volume gear manufacturing.
  • Experience in generated heat treat recipes, metallurgical experience and gear design required.
  • Solid understanding of gear types (spur, helical, bevel, etc.) and gear cutting methods.
  • Familiarity with CNC machines, CAD/CAM software, and gear design software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, Black belt certification is a plus.
