Accounting Specialist Role

Our finance team is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join their ranks in Sydney. This full-time position will support the Financial Management team by providing timely and accurate financial information and analysis.

The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for:

  1. Preparing monthly journals and assisting with month-end reporting, ensuring compliance with established standards.
  2. Maintaining and updating the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of financial transactions.
  3. Supporting year-end statutory reporting and audits by providing documentation and explanations.
  4. Assisting with budgeting and forecasting processes, including annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  5. Conducting weekly and monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accurate cash reporting.
  6. Collaborating with internal stakeholders to improve process efficiencies.
  7. Performing ad hoc tasks as required.

This role offers flexible working arrangements, allowing you to strike a balance between work and personal life.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Started your ICAANZ or CPA qualification.
  • Experience in professional services is desirable.
  • An understanding of financial accounting, especially general ledger maintenance.
  • Experience preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and strong communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and SUMIFS.
  • Ability to communicate financial information effectively to non-finance stakeholders.
  • A client service focus, professional presentation, and a proactive approach to task prioritization.
  • Proficiency in software applications to enhance financial processes.
  • A desire to learn, grow, and mentor others.
