Job Title: Culinary Trainee

The Sofitel Melbourne On Collins hotel is a luxurious establishment that offers an exceptional dining experience. As a culinary trainee, you will be part of the hotel's busy kitchen brigade and work alongside experienced chefs to develop your skills.

You will assist in food preparation and presentation for all service periods, including à la carte, buffet, room service, and functions. You will also have the opportunity to rotate through various kitchens, including restaurant, events, and pastry.

Maintaining a clean and hygienic work environment is crucial in this role. You must be able to adapt to guest requests and work effectively with Food and Beverage Attendants.

Key responsibilities include preparing food, mise en place, and working according to a daily production sheet. You will also need to keep close control of portion size and wastage.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn your trade and gain valuable experience in the hospitality industry.

Qualifications:

  • A passion for food and cooking
  • Reliable and punctual with an eye for detail
  • Currently studying or enrolled to study in 2025
  • A willingness to learn and take instruction from experienced chefs
  • Ability to work a rotating roster including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
  • Australian citizenship
