Director of General Medicine Position

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic physician to lead our General Medicine team. As Director of General Medicine, you will be responsible for overseeing the clinical governance, workforce development, and service improvement in alignment with organisational goals.

You will provide effective leadership, strategic direction, operational and financial performance for the General Medicine Unit. This includes managing access and flow, optimising inpatient capacity, and facilitating timely admissions, discharges, and follow-up in collaboration with key hospital departments and external partners.

Fostering a strong, engaged multidisciplinary team culture through staff management, including recruitment, supervision, performance development, and wellbeing support for senior and junior medical staff is also a critical aspect of this role.

About You
  • A current registration with AHPRA as a Medical Specialist is required.
  • Holding Fellowship with RACP and approved for adult general medicine scope of practice at Western Health is essential.
  • Proven clinical skills and experience in senior management positions, preferably at multi-site health services, are necessary.
