Key Responsibilities- Policy Development: Collaborate with our Regional Consultative Committee and working groups to conceptualize, execute, and manage policy initiatives that align with our organization's goals and industry priorities.
- Critical Analysis: Assess proposed policy initiatives to evaluate their potential impact on the industry and develop strategic responses.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with various stakeholders within industry and government to develop effective policy-making processes and advocacy strategies.
- Government Engagement: Serve as a liaison with federal government entities on environmental issues, articulating industry perspectives and influencing policy decisions.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other cattle industry bodies to create a unified voice for the industry, developing and maintaining partnerships that bolster industry growth, sustainability, and resilience.
- Strategic Advice: Provide strategic counsel to our team, Regional Consultative Committee, and Board on policy matters related to environmental and sustainability.
- Communication: Oversee communication on climate policy, ensuring clear and timely dissemination of information to relevant parties, and representing the organization in industry events as required.
- Policy Monitoring: Closely monitor and analyze policy trends, changes, and advancements within industry and government to ensure policy remains relevant and effective.
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, environmental science, economics, public policy, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in policy development and execution, preferably within the agricultural industry.
- Knowledge of government systems and legislative processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to operate in a small team environment and autonomously as required.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Passion for the agriculture sector with specific interests in environmental sustainability.
