About the Role


We are seeking an experienced Strategic Financial Partner to join our South Queensland region. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Senior Finance Business Partner or the Finance Manager to provide proactive support to the business, including project financial performance, project pricing, live project reviews, variation management, working capital performance, internal and external compliance, reporting and client outcomes.


Key Responsibilities



  • Providing trusted financial advice to key stakeholders to align business direction, financial strategies and utilising a variety of data sources to support sound decision making.
  • Promptly alert the key business risks affecting the business and develop and implement actions to mitigate the business risks and to optimise business performance.
  • Provide support and assist Project Managers, Project Directors and other key stakeholders as required, including assistance with pricing / commercial analysis support for project proposals and major projects.
  • Ensure each project in the project management system is set up in accordance with the terms agreed with clients and accurately reflects the work breakdown structure, commercial terms and billing requirements.
  • Monthly analytical reviews of projects (Budget, Effort, Revenue, Work in Progress (WIP), Accounts Receivables, Project variances) and engaging with Project Managers / Directors and stakeholders for discussion to ensure optimal performance including accurate revenue recognition, submission of billings in a timely manner and payment of client invoices on time.

Requirements


To be successful in this role, you will need:



  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
  • Minimum 5 years in a similar Finance role or in a role with transferable skills.
  • Proven ability to influence, manage and prioritise across diverse stakeholders.
  • A pragmatic and action-orientated approach with a willingness to get involved at a hands-on level.
  • Strong adherence to professional ethics and confidentiality.
  • Experience in a professional service, construction or project environment with a thorough understanding of work in progress concepts is highly desirable.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate and present complex information in a clear and concise manner to non-financial audiences.
  • Experience with implementation and embedding new approaches and processes would be viewed favourably.
  • Experience in developing, analysing and reporting to Budgets and Forecasts.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as BST, financial transaction systems and data analytics tools such as Planning Analytics (TM1), PowerBi and a high level of competency in MS Office applications.

As a Strategic Financial Partner at GHD, you will enjoy a competitive salary of approximately $110,000 - $140,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus superannuation and a comprehensive benefits package, including flexible working arrangements, professional development opportunities and a supportive team environment.
