Australia is committed to supporting Indonesia in its efforts to mitigate the impact of natural and man-made disasters.
The AusAID Disaster Risk Management Plan for Indonesia has been developed and is currently being revised, outlining a clear direction for Australia's disaster management assistance to Indonesia.
There are three sector-wide outcomes:
- To establish a comprehensive disaster management system that is planned, integrated, coordinated, and effective;
- To protect the nation from the threat of disaster by reducing risks in communities;
- To ensure effective implementation of DM Law by relevant agencies at national and sub-national level.
The Senior Program Manager – Disaster Management will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing disaster preparedness and risk reduction activities, as well as directing and managing the future program;
- Initiating, establishing, and managing Australian emergency assistance to Indonesia in times of disasters;
- Establishing and managing a community-based disaster risk management mechanism;
- Liaising and coordinating with BNPB and other relevant Indonesian Government agencies;
- Liaising and coordinating within the organization and with other Australian Government agencies, and representing the organization at national and international forums;
- Monitoring and evaluating disaster preparedness and risk reduction activities;
- Working with the Disaster Risk Management Adviser to integrate disaster risk reduction activities across programs;
- Requirement to be part of the Rapid Response Team;
- Staff supervision and management including financial tracking.
