About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Technical Officer to join our team at the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases (ACBD) and support innovative research in NanoBiotechnology and NanoTheranostics laboratories.

This dynamic position offers the chance to contribute to novel glucose-responsive insulin platforms, imaging technologies, and advanced drug delivery systems. You will provide professional technical support to researchers, managing day-to-day laboratory operations, maintaining equipment, conducting experiments, and assisting with data analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Experiments and Manage Resources: Assist in conducting experiments and manage materials, equipment, and supplies to ensure efficient and effective laboratory operations.
  • Provide Expert Guidance: Offer guidance and training on equipment use and compliance with standard protocols to promote safe and high-quality research practices.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Latest Methods: Maintain knowledge of the latest methodologies, technologies, and data management techniques to enhance research outcomes.
  • Identify and Resolve Issues: Identify and resolve research-related issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to drive innovation and excellence.
  • Support Animal Models and Molecular Biology Tasks: Conduct animal work, including diabetic mouse models and other disease models, and perform molecular biology tasks such as cell culture, RT-PCR, qPCR, Western Blotting, ELISA, protein purification, and immunohistochemistry.
  • Support Advanced Technical Processes: Support flow cytometry (FACS) and other advanced technical processes to facilitate cutting-edge research.

What We're Looking For

  • A tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques, protein work, histology, and animal models.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous learning.
