About the Role

Aurizon is seeking an experienced Operations Specialist to join our team at our Dry Creek depot. This role will involve train driving duties, training and assessments, mentoring of rail operations staff, conducting audits, safety observations, and incident management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate locomotives and trains in a safe and efficient manner, complying with all safe working regulations and requirements for upholding Rail Safety Workers (RSW) accreditation.
  • Deliver training and assessment requirements to ensure all RSW have up-to-date training and competencies.
  • Conduct operational audits, safety observations, and other monitoring of operations.
  • Provide immediate incident management and trauma support to employees.
  • Develop procedures, safe working practices, and other operational documents as required.
  • Promote optimum driving methodologies, including regular review of data logger downloads.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
About You

You will have a high level of communication skills and pride yourself on delivering value to customers. You will bring the following skills to the position:

  • Locomotive driving and/or shunt qualifications (preferred).
  • Training and assessing certification (CERT IV) or working towards it.
  • Cert IV Frontline Management or equivalent (preferred).
  • Safe working rules applicable to the networks over which Bulk Central operate.
  • Implementing and maintaining a safety-based culture.
  • Operation of train braking systems (Pneumatic or ECP).
  • Self-management skills with flexibility and commitment to work in a 24/7 shift work environment.
  • Monitoring performance of operations and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Demonstrated analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
