Salary

A competitive salary package is offered to all members of the Australian Defence Force, including a base salary of approximately $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience and qualifications. In addition to your base salary, you will also receive a range of benefits, including access to training and development opportunities, paid annual leave, and a comprehensive health insurance plan.

Job Description

As a Fabricator (Marine Technician – Hull) in the Australian Defence Force, you will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing the ship's hull, structural and auxiliary systems. Your typical day will involve operating state-of-the-art engineering systems and conducting maintenance to ensure that the ship remains serviceable.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of engineering principles and practices, as well as excellent problem-solving and communication skills. A Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication is highly desirable, but not essential. If you are an apprentice or have no experience at all, you will still be eligible to apply.

As a sailor in the Australian Defence Force, you will also have the opportunity to perform a range of additional duties, including ship security, firefighting, boarding party, flood repair, line handling, first aid, flight deck duties, replenishment at sea, medical emergency team member, ammunitioning, or ceremonial duties. This will give you the chance to develop a wide range of skills and become highly trained and efficient in supporting the whole ship.
