About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Engineer to join our team at the Doherty Institute. As the lead engineer for our shared engineering team, you will be responsible for overseeing engineering operations and ensuring that our facility infrastructure supports our research and business objectives.

You will provide technical guidance to a diverse team of engineers and maintenance staff, ensuring compliance with University policies and regulations. Your responsibilities will include overseeing engineering operations, fostering collaboration, and ensuring facility infrastructure supports the Institute's research and business objectives.

You will also be responsible for identifying, mitigating risks, managing assets, and ensuring compliance with University policies and regulations. Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and a proven financial acumen are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee engineering operations and ensure facility infrastructure supports the Institute's research and business objectives
  • Provide technical guidance to a diverse team of engineers and maintenance staff
  • Identify, mitigate risks, manage assets, and ensure compliance with University policies and regulations
  • Communicate with stakeholders, contribute to cost-saving initiatives, and promote a culture of continuous improvement
Requirements
  • Degree qualifications in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in a relevant field
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and a proven financial acumen
  • Familiarity with a broad range of building, laboratory, and engineering services
