
Welding Quality Assurance Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Welding Quality Assurance Specialist to play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in welding activities.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Develop fabrication work packages for maintenance and projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
- Create and manage inspection and test plans, check sheets, and welding documents, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Select and submit weld procedure specs for client approval, demonstrating expertise in welding processes and materials.
- Coordinate non-destructive testing, post-weld heat treatment, and industrial painting, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
- Maintain contract-required quality documentation, guaranteeing accurate and timely record-keeping.
- Address client welding queries, providing clear and concise explanations and solutions.
- Train and coach staff on quality control and assurance, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Implement and monitor the Welding Management System, identifying areas for enhancement and optimizing processes.
- Conduct welder qualification tests, evaluating competence and adherence to industry standards.
- Advise on fabrication methods per client specifications and standards, applying technical knowledge and expertise.
- Participate in safety audits and inspections, promoting a safe working environment and identifying potential risks.
- Ensure compliance with SHEQ regulations, upholding the organization's commitment to quality, health, safety, and environmental responsibility.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- A relevant Mechanical Trade or tertiary qualification, preferably with a Cert III or higher, demonstrating a strong foundation in welding principles and practices.
- A welding-related certification, such as the Weld Australia International Institute Welding Inspector - Basic Qualifications or similar, showcasing your expertise and commitment to the field.
- Experience working with various materials, including Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, and Aluminium, highlighting your adaptability and technical skills.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in a Welding Supervisory or Leadership role, demonstrating leadership capabilities and industry-specific knowledge.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting fabrication drawings, indicating your ability to analyze complex information and make informed decisions.
- Strong management and organisational skills, enabling effective communication, teamwork, and time management.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, allowing you to build strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
- Highly motivated with good written, problem-solving, and communication skills, reflecting your enthusiasm and dedication to delivering high-quality results.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), highlighting your ability to utilize technology effectively in your work.
- The ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders, demonstrating your flexibility and resilience.
