Highly Able Education Specialist

About this role:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced educator to join our team as a Highly Able Education Specialist. This is an exceptional opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the educational journey of highly able students.

Key Highlights:

  • This part-time role (0.4 FTE) involves developing and implementing a curriculum that challenges highly able students.
  • You will work closely with classroom teachers, the Head of Teaching and Learning, the Head of Learning Strategies, and families to support the individual learning needs of these students.

Responsibilities:

  1. Advocate for and practically support differentiation within the mainstream curriculum, working with all staff.
  2. Support Teachers in differentiating the curriculum and making adjustments so that all students are fully engaged.
  3. Plan and deliver targeted programs for identified and high potential learners.
  4. Implement programs and interventions that are responsive, and data informed.
  5. Conduct assessments and analyse available data to identify students with exceptional abilities and monitor their progress over time.
  6. Collaborate with Classroom and Specialist teachers to plan and implement meaningful enrichment experiences, for highly able students.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of gifted and talented education.
  • Exemplary teaching practices, with proven classroom management practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current educational issues, curriculum frameworks and National standards as they apply in an ELC-12 context.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement quality differentiated teaching and learning programs.
  • Masters of Gifted Education and/or equivalent qualification in supporting highly able students.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience related to the teaching responsibility as required by the position.
