Associate Professor, Indigenous Education

Job Description:

The La Trobe University School of Education has an exciting opportunity for a senior academic to join its team as an Associate Professor in Indigenous Education. As a key strategic priority for the University, the School is undergoing an exciting phase of renewal expanding its academic programs, strengthening research capability and deepening engagement with schools, communities and industry.

We prepare educators across early childhood, primary, secondary and tertiary contexts, with a strong commitment to evidence-informed and culturally sustaining practice.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Enhance the quality and cultural responsiveness of initial teacher education programs.
  • Build sustainable pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and educators.

This identified Indigenous role is designated for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander academic with demonstrated expertise in teacher education and Indigenous education. This senior academic appointment is established to amplify Indigenous knowledge systems and perspectives across the school's teaching, research and partnership agenda.
