Job Overview

:

We are seeking an experienced Civil Designer to join our team at Bechtel Corporation. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and reviewing project civil/structural design work.

This role involves producing drawings, facilitating discussions, communicating complex technical issues, and preparing civil/structural design estimates and work plans.

The ideal candidate will ensure designs and work plans are in accordance with project scope, schedule, budget, regulations, and standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with other civil designers and drafters to prepare layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models, and construction drawings.
  2. Develop designs for complete and complex civil engineering systems such as earthwork, drainage, road design, with minimal supervision from which detailed scale models and/or construction drawings are completed.
  3. Assist in constructing detailed scale models.
  4. Prepare or assist with the preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluations.
  5. Monitor and check work for compliance with approved civil design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation, and construction economy.
  6. Participate in constructability reviews.
  7. Other responsibilities as designated.

Educational Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Specialized courses in drafting, design, and engineering practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Experience in design and drafting and demonstrated skill.
  2. Solid knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, reading of drawings, and reproduction methods used by the discipline.
  3. Skill in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups.
  4. Experience with relevant software, e.g., OpenRoads Designer.
