Medical Laboratory Specialist

A Medical Scientist role is available at a renowned hospital, working in the Haematology Laboratory to provide high-quality diagnostic services.
As part of this team, you will be responsible for performing laboratory duties, including haematology and transfusion tests. You will also participate in rotational shifts, adhere to standard operating procedures, and report opportunities for improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and specialized haematology and transfusion diagnostic laboratory tests after receiving appropriate training.
- Conduct routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on automated and manual instrumentation and equipment within the Haematology and Transfusion section.
- Participate in a fully rotational roster, including early mornings, afternoons, and evening shifts.
- Ensure adherence to standard operating techniques and procedures documented in laboratory manuals as required by ISO standards.
- Collaborate with the Principal Scientist/Scientist in Charge to implement initiatives that improve workflow and efficiency in the laboratory.
- Hold a Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or a related degree from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrate relevant technical skills and knowledge in haematology and transfusion science.
- Develop strong interpersonal skills, able to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Major in haematology/transfusion science or equivalent.
- Possess knowledge of ISO 15189 and its application to medical testing, advantageous but not essential.
- Obtain a satisfactory police check and Working with Children check.
