Energy Market Analysis Specialist

The ideal candidate will support the team with timely and accurate information to enable optimal tactical/operational planning alongside robust analysis and insight into the global energy markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a broad range of energy market analysis, price forecasting retail pricing and global insights for business units
  • Assist in the development of asset and portfolio market projections and valuations
  • Develop complex econometric models for forecasting global energy prices using available historical supply, demand, and pricing data
  • Evaluate models for errors, as well as evaluate output of the models versus the patterns of the market being modelled
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and research within the energy markets, including timing studies, fundamental analysis, statistical analysis and technical analysis

Requirements:

  • A strong commercial acumen and experience in the Australian electricity markets
  • Tertiary qualifications in an engineering / science / commerce discipline
  • 4+ years of relevant experience, within the Australian or New Zealand energy industry
  • Proficiency with market simulation models strongly preferred
  • The ability to utilise statistical software for in-depth analysis of fundamental data
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills
  • The ability to communicate opinions on past, present, and future energy market movements both verbally and in writing with colleagues, and senior management in a clear and concise manner
  • An interest in global energy markets
