Community Manager Job Overview

The Community Manager plays a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of an affordable housing community. This includes overseeing staff, maintaining accurate resident records, processing applications, and conducting regular inspections.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise all community team members to ensure seamless daily operations.
  • Complete weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to provide insights into community performance.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date resident files in compliance with established management protocols and funding agency regulations.
  • Process applicants and lease units according to the Resident Selection Criteria guidelines.
  • Maintain positive relationships with local government agencies to foster collaboration and support.
  • Conduct regular follow-up inspections on maintenance work, grounds, and common areas to ensure high standards are met.
  • Collect rents and handle delinquent accounts in a timely and professional manner.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience in property management with a proven track record of success.
  • Experience in supervising staff members to achieve optimal results.
  • Experience working with Section 8 programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with residents, staff, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and general computer skills to efficiently manage tasks and data.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual fluency in English and another language to enhance communication with diverse communities.
  • Experience with Yardi program for efficient property management.
  • General knowledge of fair housing and other relevant regulations to ensure compliance.
