The role of Early Childhood Education Services Manager involves overseeing the planning, development, management, evaluation and day-to-day operation of Centre-based Head Start and Early Head Start services.

Purpose of Classification: The purpose of this classification is to provide programme planning, development, management, evaluation and day-to-day operation of Centre-based Head Start and Early Head Start services.

Essential Functions:

  • Plans, formulates, coordinates and implements Early/Head Start services consistent with the overall mission of Step Forward programmes.
  • Supervises, directs and evaluates assigned staff, including developing and overseeing employee work schedules, compiling and reviewing timesheets, approving or processing employee concerns and counselling or disciplining as appropriate.
  • Organizes, prioritizes and assigns work, prioritizes and schedules work activities in order to meet objectives, ensures that subordinates have the proper resources needed to complete the assigned work, monitors the status of work in progress and inspects completed work.
  • Assists in the preparation of grant applications by providing information and input to ensure resources needed to deliver non-contracted Early Head Start and Head Start programmes.
  • Interfaces with other Programme Managers to ensure an integrated service delivery system and serves as a member of the Vice President's management team for Children and Families.

Additional Functions: Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Services or a related field supplemented by three years of work experience, including Lead or Supervisory experience preferably in a large social services organization or related field, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.
