About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Home Care Attendant to join our team at Southern Health-Santé Sud.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering exceptional care and support to individuals in their own homes, promoting independence, dignity, and overall well-being.

Job Summary

This is a dynamic opportunity for an empathetic and organized individual to work as part of a collaborative team, providing personal care and home support services to clients of all ages and backgrounds.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing personalized care and assistance to clients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming;
  • Assisting clients with mobility and transfer needs, ensuring their safety and comfort;
  • Preparing healthy meals and snacks, maintaining a clean and safe living environment;
  • Communicating effectively with clients, family members, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination;
  • Administering medications and treatments as directed by healthcare professionals;
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, fostering trust and confidence in their care;
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports, adhering to confidentiality and data protection protocols.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Grade 12 education and completion of a recognized Home Care Attendant or Health Care Aide program;
  • Previous experience working with seniors, disabled individuals, or those with chronic conditions, preferably in a community setting;
  • Knowledge of Safe Food Handling principles and practices;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse client populations;
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license, reliable vehicle, and liability insurance (for designated positions);
  • Proof of proficiency in both official languages (English and French), essential for bilingual positions;
  • A clean driving record and ability to meet physical demands of the job, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
