The Home Care Attendant plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being of seniors and individuals with disabilities, enabling them to maintain their independence and live comfortably in their own homes.

As a member of the Home Care team at Southern Health-Santé Sud, this position requires a high level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities and methods. The incumbent will exercise critical thinking skills to address unique situations and challenges.

About the Job

  • Provides personal care and home support services to clients as assigned, adhering to established plans of care.
  • Works collaboratively with the Home Care Resource Coordinator to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Communicates effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals to meet client needs.
  • Demonstrates empathy and respect for clients' cultural backgrounds and individual requirements.
  • Maintains accurate records and reports, adhering to confidentiality protocols.
  • Complies with health and safety regulations, as well as organizational policies and procedures.
  • Prioritizes tasks efficiently to manage workload and meet deadlines.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Grade 12 education required.
  • Home Care Attendant Certificate or Health Care Aide Certificate with community component from a recognized post-secondary institute.
  • Knowledge of Safe Food Handling.
  • Previous experience working with seniors or individuals with disabilities in a community setting is preferred.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license, an all-purpose insured vehicle, and liability insurance are mandatory.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is approximately $45,000 - $60,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include a comprehensive health and dental plan, paid time off, and opportunities for professional development.
