About this role:

This position exists to empower individuals to have greater control in their lives.

Your work will involve partnering with people and their families, facilitating relationships and communication, skill development and partnership with organisations to support inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting clients to achieve their goals through one-on-one support
  • Developing trusting relationships with clients while helping them understand and manage their own mental health
  • Collaborating with services and the community to ensure a coordinated response to client recovery goals
  • Problem solving and developing creative solutions to meet service needs
  • Attending appointments and supporting day-to-day activities as required by the client

Administration:

Completing documentation, including incident and hazard reporting, communication notes and medication sheets.

Knowledge & experience:

A clear understanding of goal setting in relation to participant needs, experience in dealing with people with intellectual disabilities, mental health, complex behaviors and challenging behaviors.

Skills:

  • Previous experience in disability work and youth work
  • Previous experience in behaviour support
  • Current first aid certificate
  • Working with Children Check and National Police Check
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Current drivers licence
  • Ability to identify and manage risks to ensure safety for all
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Requirements:

A satisfactory police criminal record and Disability Workers Exclusion Scheme checks and the right to work in Australia are conditional upon employment.

Job Type: Part-time/Casual

Salary: $28-$35 per hour
