Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Planning Engineer to join our Distribution Network Strategy & Planning team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning and delivering economic and strategic solutions to maintain the AusNet network and ensure the communities and businesses it serves remain ahead in a rapidly changing energy landscape.

Your primary focus will be on assessing network constraints, developing viable solutions and augmentation strategies, and conducting economic assessments. You will also be responsible for crafting compelling business cases and leading initiatives such as Regulatory Investment Tests and Electricity Distribution Price Reset proposals.

To succeed in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of network infrastructure, comprehensive analysis skills, and excellent communication abilities. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our plans align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

In addition to your technical expertise, you will need to have strong commercial acumen, external stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to interpret results from electricity network analysis tools.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Relevant qualification and experience in Engineering
  • Experience in contemporary electricity network planning, asset management practices, and overarching markets
  • Proficiency in using electricity network analysis tools or relevant software (such as Sincal, PSS/E, PowerFactory &/or PSCAD) and interpreting results
  • Demonstrated experience for management of a number of projects simultaneously from conception to implementation and realisation of program objectives
  • Sound knowledge of National Electricity Rules, the energy markets, and relevant laws, regulations, rules, licences, and agreements
