Job Title: Asian Art Specialist

The National Gallery of Victoria seeks an experienced Asian Art Specialist to contribute to the development and management of its Asian Art collection.

  • Develop and manage the Asian Art collection in line with the NGV Collections Strategy and acquisitions policy.
  • Contribute to displays and exhibitions planning, research, and coordination.
  • Undertake administrative duties including record-keeping, budgeting, and correspondence.
  • Support curatorial and audience engagement initiatives.
  • Foster awareness of the NGV Collection and Asian Art area through stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Developing the Asian Art collection in line with the NGV Collections Strategy and acquisitions policy.
  2. Contributing to displays and exhibitions planning, research, and coordination.
  3. Undertaking administrative duties including record-keeping, budgeting, and correspondence.
  4. Supporting Curatorial and Audience Engagement initiatives.
  5. Fostering awareness of the NGV Collection and Asian Art area through stakeholder engagement.
Requirements

Qualifications and Experience: Specialist knowledge of Asian art, related tertiary qualification, and direct or transferrable experience in curatorial practice, exhibition and project management, publishing or research.

Skills: Collection management database experience, exhibition planning and coordination, and communication skills.
