Part-Time Governance Officer Opportunity

A local council in the north-east is seeking a part-time Governance Officer to provide expert governance advice and support to their team. The successful candidate will work 2 days per week, with flexibility on which days, for an initial 3-month period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide governance advice to ensure compliance with statutory obligations and enhance organizational processes.
  • Support Council meetings, including agenda preparation and minute-taking, to ensure effective decision-making.
  • Maintain governance registers and ensure they are up-to-date, providing a clear audit trail.
  • Develop and review policies and procedures to improve governance practices and promote good governance.
  • Assist in managing the council's responsibilities as a naming authority, ensuring accurate and timely decision-making.
  • Conduct governance-related research and projects as directed, providing expert advice and guidance.
  • Build relationships with internal stakeholders to promote good governance and ensure effective communication.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of Local Government processes and legislation, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical context.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Proven experience in governance or administrative roles, with a track record of delivering high-quality results.
