About the Role:

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong leadership and security management skills. As a Security Forces Officer in the Australian Defence Force, you will be responsible for commanding and leading up to 40 protective security specialists in a 'Security Flight'. Your responsibilities could include:

  • Commanding, leading and managing the workforce that provides physical security and security governance for Defence installations and advanced capabilities
  • Advising command on protective security measures and security risk management, including active and passive defences
  • Developing security risk assessments, vulnerability assessments and security risk mitigation strategies
  • Designing and executing airbase protection and security first responses
  • Providing emergency responses for major incidents, such as aircraft crashes
  • Planning the conduct of Base Security Operations and training exercises in conjunction with unit and base executives
  • Delivering ground defence continuation training for Base personnel
  • Delivering nuclear, biological and chemical defence training
  • Controlling the base armoury and small arms range

You may be selected for roles in the Air Force Ground Combat Security Forces Squadron which primarily responds to security threats across the threat spectrum, or in military law enforcement and investigative roles alongside Army and Navy as part of ADF Military Policing in the Joint Military Police Unit (JMPU).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading and managing a team of up to 40 protective security specialists
  • Developing and implementing security risk management strategies
  • Providing advice and recommendations to commanders on security matters

The estimated salary for this role is around $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

About You:

We are looking for an experienced and skilled Security Forces Officer who has a strong background in security management and leadership. You will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field, such as security management or a related field
  • At least 5 years' experience in a security-related role
  • Excellent leadership and management skills
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
